Tim Gaudreau is a native New Hampshire artist who is passionate about the natural world and the preservation of the environment.   Through his artwork, Tim advocates for environmental responsibility, the recognition of wonder and beauty in our world and hopes to generate dialogue about social issues.   "It is the responsibility of the artist to communicate a relevant vision about our world and society," Gaudreau says.   Tim sees art as one of the most powerful means of social commentary and of inspiring meaningful conversation about important issues.   His photography, unique and intimate perspectives of nature and people, urges us to recognize the often overlooked beauty around us and our role in saving or destroying that beauty.   As a sculptor, Tim's abstract work suggests connection and interaction with space.   Time and memory also play a prominent part in much of Tim's work, reminding us to savor the fleeting moments that may prove to be the richest.

Tim recently completed his Master of Fine Arts degree through the intensive interdisciplinary program at the Maine College of Art.   With his latest work, Tim combines his photography with video, new media, graphics and sculpture to create public art.   In 2003, Tim was awarded an Artist Fellowship from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts that enabled him to continue to produce public works that challenge conventional thinking.   With a cultural exchange grant, Tim recently spent six weeks photographing in India and has returned with lots of stories and many images.

In the fall of 1998, Tim traveled to Brazil on a grant from the Partners of the Americas in order to photograph in New Hampshire's sister state and share ideas and techniques with Cearanese photographers.   Tim's work has been featured at several galleries and exhibitions, including his solo shows "New Hampshire's Promise", exhibited in New Hampshire and Ceara, Brazil, and an exhibit of the Brazil images at the New Hampshire State House.   Tim's distinctive Polaroid emulsion transfers have also won awards in exhibits at The Currier Museum of Art and annual Parfitt Photography Exhibitions.   Tim's Eco-art has been in several site-specific installations including a project in conjunction with Earth Day 2003 in downtown Portsmouth, NH.

He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1992 with a BFA in photography.
